Liposuction for Different Body Areas

If any part of your body has ever been a “trouble spot” for you to lose weight then you may have considered liposuction. That’s completely understandable, especially now that having liposuction done is a completely safe, common procedure. With advances in cosmetic surgery, it’s now possible to target stubborn fat in any part of the body through liposuction.

Are you bothered by the appearance of bra bulge, bingo wings, or love handles? You’re not alone. There are thousands of others just like you who have resolved their issues with liposuction and are happier and more confident in their bodies than ever.

Before you head to your head your cosmetic physician, though, you need to be sure that you understand what the process looks like. Go into your consultation with a plan in mind and research under your belt, and you’ll be able to walk out with a tummy tuck in no time.

Vacuum Assisted Liposuction

If you think of liposuction, the first procedure that comes to mind is likely going to be Vacuum Assisted Liposuction. Vacuum Assisted Liposuction (VAL) is the quintessential tummy tuck tool and the liposuction process that has been in play for decades. This is the most common process and one of the easiest to set up, which is why it’s become a favourite for cosmetic physicians across the globe.

To use VAL, you insert a hollow tube under the skin and place it into the fat layer. What happens then, to put it in layman’s terms, is that the fat is “vacuumed” up through the tube and into a harvester, ridding your body of any stubborn fat. This procedure can be used on practically any part of the body, like your tummy, jaw, arms, or bra bulge. However, there are some risk factors with using VAL that you need to be aware of.

While the VAL process can be effective in reducing fat, it can also be physically demanding for surgeons. Additionally, fine control over the fat layer is also difficult to achieve due to its physically demanding nature and imprecise control. VAL also requires a longer recovery time, has more bleeding risks, and does not allow for as much skin retraction in the future.

Water Assisted Liposuction

Water Assisted Liposuction, known also as WAL or BodyJet, is similar to Vacuum Assisted Liposuction. While the process between these two types of liposuction is similar, there is a key difference: the addition of a nozzle filled with a pressurised solution. The hollow needle along with the nozzle is inserted under the skin, just as with VAL, but the difference is that the WAL liposuction uses the pressurised water solution to help dislodge the fat from under the skin as it’s extracted.

This procedure can be done under local anaesthesia and has a shorter recovery time than VAL. However, the equipment for this procedure is more expensive which means that the procedure is more expensive than VAL. Also, fat removal is not as effective as with VAL and is not an ideal solution for any kind of precision contouring. Keep in mind that while WAL can be used on many of the same areas of the body as VAL, it may not be as effective in achieving the desired results.

There are benefits to using WAL over VAL, but there are also disadvantages. It all depends on personal preference as to what you believe is the best fit for you and your body’s needs.

Radio-Frequency Assisted Liposuction

Radio-Frequency Assisted Liposuction (RAL) is a more advanced type of liposuction procedure that uses electromagnetic waves to help melt the fat before suctioning it out of the body. A hollow needle is inserted under the skin, and an external electrode is placed just above the skin. The electromagnetic waves from the two devices help to melt the fat layer, which is then suctioned up through the hollow needle.

This process is more accurate than processes like Vacuum-Assisted Liposuction and gives the physician more control over the area. However, due to the heating component of the treatment, it may not be suitable for all areas of the body and can increase the risk of burns.

If you’re tired of dealing with stubborn fat in areas like love handles, bingo wings, or cellulite on the thighs and buttocks, these areas are prime targets for this procedure. This is also a great tool to use for any stubborn fat on your abdomen as well, perfect for the beginning stages of a tummy tuck.

Luxe Skin is proud to offer RAL, more commonly known as BodyTite in our Glasgow clinic. This procedure can be done right in our clinic and is an affordable, competitive price compared to other liposuction treatments across the UK. Plus, because this is a non-surgical liposuction option, you’ll be back on your feet in no time after recovery. Overall, this is a great option for people interested in liposuction without all the stress!
