Non-Surgical Lipo: How Does It Work?

When you want to feel confident and comfortable in your skin, sometimes liposuction could be the answer. Many people choose to have a liposuction to help them achieve their confidence. The only problem with liposuction, however, is that it can be a traumatic procedure for your skin with a long recovery period and more downtime than most people are comfortable with. You should research carefully before you commit to it.

If you are interested in receiving liposuction and don’t enjoy the idea of such a long period of downtime, then a non-surgical liposuction procedure may be for you. At Luxe Skin, we offer a non-surgical liposuction procedure that can have you back up and on your feet within days.

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure that removes fat from the body in areas like the abdomen, thighs, arms, neck, and more. This procedure also offers a body contouring effect, allowing people who get liposuction to adjust their body shape (to a point). When the fat is removed, the skin moulds itself to the body where the fat was removed, contouring the body.

While this procedure does remove fat from the body, it is not recommended as the sole weight-loss tool in your arsenal. You should practise good exercise and eating habits to maintain any weight loss. You must be in good health before a liposuction procedure, or your doctor may not want to continue the process with you.

Typically, liposuction is an invasive surgical procedure. In recent years, however, it has become less invasive with different methods of liposuction that you’re able to participate in. Through advancements in science and technology, there are now several methods of non-surgical liposuction.

Here at Luxe Skin, we use the Body Tite method of liposuction, which is a type of radiofrequency liposuction. This is not the only method of non-surgical liposuction on the market, though. There are several different types of non-surgical liposuction, and each has a different benefit. Before deciding what type to use, be sure to discuss it with your doctor.

Types of Non-Surgical Liposuction

Liposuction is mostly associated with an invasive surgical procedure, but in the modern era, liposuction can be done in a much more painless way that doesn’t require nearly as much recovery time. There are several ways that a non-surgical lipo procedure can be done, including:

Freezing Fat Cells

One of the ways a non-surgical liposuction procedure can be done is through cryolipolysis or freezing of the fat cells. During this procedure, the fat cells under the skin are destroyed by extremely cold temperatures, reducing the fat in your target areas. This procedure typically doesn’t work well within a single session and will require multiple sessions to achieve results.

Heating Fat Cells

Much like cryolipolysis, which uses extreme cold to destroy fat cells, some professionals also use heat to destroy fat cells. A laser is used to heat and destroy the fat cells under the skin, reducing the amount of fat in the areas you choose.

Using Ultrasound Energy

With this method, ultrasound vibrations are used to break down the fat cells under the skin. When the fat cells are broken down, a small cannula is inserted under the skin to remove the broken-down fat cells using suction. Depending on the device and method used, this process will take between one and three treatments before achieving your desired result.

Using Radiofrequency Energy

The final most common non-surgical liposuction method is by using radiofrequency energy. By using radiofrequency energy, this process uses energy that creates heat, breaking down the fat cells and tightening the skin. The melted fat is removed using a small cannula.

BodyTite, the methodology that Luxe Skin uses to complete non-surgical liposuction in Glasgow, is a process that uses radiofrequency energy to break down fat for the liposuction procedure.

What is BodyTite?

BodyTite is a non-surgical liposuction procedure that Luxe Skin uses in our offices to help you melt away fat and be more confident in your body. BodyTite uses radiofrequency energy to help you melt away fat and tighten up your skin.

Unlike the typical liposuction procedure that can leave trauma on your skin and body from the method used, BodyTite does the opposite. This is the radiofrequency method we described above, which involves melting fat before removing it with a cannula. Because of the heat from the radiofrequency energy, this procedure simultaneously melts away fat and tightens up the collagen in your skin, leaving your skin firm and smooth in a way that other liposuction procedures do not.

BodyTite can be used on several different areas of your body including your arms, legs, breasts, buttocks, and abdomen.

The BodyTite procedure only takes about two to four hours, depending on what area of your body you want to focus on. During the procedure, the BodyTite electrode is inserted under the skin via a small incision, and the electrode is moved slowly back and forth under the skin, melting away the fat. Once the fat is melted, a small cannula is inserted under the skin through the same incision, sucking away the melted fat. Once the procedure is complete, you’ll be prescribed a small course of antibiotics to prevent infection, and you’re all done!

The downtime is minimal compared to a traditional liposuction procedure. Once you complete your procedure, you will have some bruising and swelling around the procedure site. After this, however, your downtime will be minimal. You’ll be able to return to work as early as three to five days after the procedure and only be required to wear a compression garment for one to two weeks.

Compared to traditional liposuction, this is a minimal amount of time. Traditional liposuction will leave your skin swollen and bruised for up to two weeks, and getting back to work and your normal routine can take several weeks. If you’re not too keen on sitting at home to recover, non-surgical liposuction is the way to go!

The best part about BodyTite is that, like a traditional liposuction procedure, the results are permanent. You will not have to worry about completing another treatment to maintain the results, unless you gain weight and wish to go through it again.

What Are the Risks?

Just like with any other surgical procedure, there are always going to be risks that you assume when receiving a procedure. The risks of non-surgical liposuction are minimal in comparison to traditional surgery, but they are still present.

After the procedure, you’re likely going to feel sore and tender in the areas where you had the procedure done. You may experience some pain, but a small amount of paracetamol will be able to help with the soreness and discomfort. You will need to wear a compression garment for about two weeks, and you may experience some seeping or weeping of the incision site, but this should clear up within a few days.
