The Multiple Benefits of Cheek Fillers

Trying to decide if you should get cheek fillers? Read on to find out more:

What Exactly Are Cheek Fillers?

Cheek filler is a cosmetic procedure that injects fillers under the skin to give your skin a fuller, more youthful look. Your dermatologist will inject these dermal fillers under your skin into the soft tissue on your target areas to give more fullness and definition to your skin.

You can get cheek filler for a wide range of reasons: to even out your skin, to give yourself a more youthful appearance, to fill in wrinkles and smooth lines, or just because you want to! You don’t need to try to justify getting cheek filler if it’s something you’re interested in or feel like you might benefit from. Just make sure that you speak to your dermatologist before making any decisions regarding your skin health!

If you’re wanting to look into cheek filler in Glasgow or want some more information about if cheek filler may be right for you, then contact our office to schedule a consultation appointment to speak with our physicians.

What Are the Types of Cheek Fillers?

There are four main types of cheek filler. These four types are:

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid cheek filler is the most common type of dermal and cheek filler on the market. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in your skin that gives your skin a natural look when you’re getting cheek filler. This is the most common type of filler used by dermatologists and skin clinics, and the results from this type of filler typically last about a year.

Calcium Hydroxylapatite

Calcium Hydroxylapatite is another naturally occurring substance found in your bones. This filler is typically most used for deeper lines and wrinkles and lasts for approximately fifteen months instead of twelve like Hyaluronic Acid. This type of filler is also commonly used to add fullness to your cheekbones.

Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA)

Poly-L-Lactic Acid, also known as PLLA, is a synthetic filler, meaning that this substance doesn’t occur naturally in your body. Instead, PLLA promotes the growth of collagen in your skin to lessen the effects of ageing skin. This type of filler usually lasts about two years, but it has been known to last for longer periods due to its collagen-stimulating properties.

Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)

Polymethylmethacrylate, or PMMA, is another type of synthetic cheek filler that is commonly used by dermatologists. Instead of being a liquid or a gel, this type of filler consists of tiny collagen beads that are perfect for deeper lines and wrinkles. Because this type of filler is firmer, it’s ideal for adding firmness to your cheeks. PMMA can last for years, which is much longer than any of the other types of filler, but you should keep in mind that it may need to be injected more than once to achieve this effect.

If you’re concerned about what type of filler is best for you and your skin, be sure to consult with your dermatologist before making the decision.

What Are the Benefits of Cheek Filler?

Cheek filler and plastic surgery in general can have many incredible benefits, just look at the cheek filler before and after photos! However, if you’re still on the fence about taking the plunge, here are some reasons why cheek filler may be what you’re looking for:

Less Expensive

Compared to traditional plastic surgery, receiving cheek filler is a much more cost-effective choice to make. While the effects of cheek filler aren’t permanent like some forms of plastic surgery, the cost more than makes up for it. Here at Luxe Skin, our cheek filler treatment prices start as low as £350!

Immediate Results

When you receive cheek filler, you won’t have to wait for the results to be visible. While it may take a day or two for the filler to settle and any potential bruising to fade, your cheek filler results will appear immediately after the procedure. You do not need to wait, nail-biting and knee shaking, to make sure that the procedure you may have to spend hundreds of pounds on actually worked. With cheek filler, you can see right away.

Non-Permanent Results

While some people may see non-permanent results as a drawback, this couldn’t be farther from the truth in this situation. Unlike surgery, cheek filler is not a permanent procedure. That means if you aren’t pleased by something with your procedure, time will help it to fade. Also, due to the nature of fillers, many fillers under the skin can be moulded slightly by your dermatologist if the filler doesn’t settle in the right place.

Younger Look and More Confidence

While people get cheek filler and other fillers done for a myriad of reasons, one of the top reasons is that they simply want to change their look, whether that be a more youthful look or just wanting to even out their facial features. When people have the ability to change their appearance to the way they choose, they can feel more confident and comfortable in their skin. No matter what, if someone is comfortable and happy in their own skin, their confidence level soars.

Quick Recovery Time

One of the highlights of having a less-invasive procedure like a cheek filler as opposed to traditional plastic surgery is the quick recovery time. Recovery is so quick that if you aren’t opposed to going out with bruises on your face, you’ll likely be able to return to your normal activities the day after the procedure.

Of course, as mentioned above, you’re likely to have some bruising or redness on the skin after the procedure. This, however, fades within a few days, leaving your skin clear, healthy, and hydrated.

Are There Any Risks to Cheek Filler?

Just like with any other medical procedure, there will always be risks. In comparison, though, the risks for cheek filler are much less than those of traditional plastic surgery. You may experience some redness and bruising when it comes to the procedure, but that will likely be the extent of any kind of risks or results.

Before you schedule your procedure, be sure to talk to your dermatologist just to confirm that there are no additional risks or potential adverse effects you may experience when receiving cheek filler. Ensure there are no ingredients you may be allergic to and confirm that none of the other parts of the procedure may be harmful to you (like a latex allergy, iodine allergy, etc.). As long as you take the proper precautions, then cheek filler should be a relatively safe and harmless procedure.
